Working with Cindy - Dr. Lori Glumac
Intro
In Physical Therapy, Every success story shows the true dedication of the patient and the support they receive from the patient's friends, family and physical therapists. Among many PT’s Cindy Miles stands out as somebody who embodies these values into her practice. She has mentored and taught many other PT’s to follow in a similar path, such as with Dr. Lori Glumac.
Dr. Glumac and Cindy
Dr. Lori Glumac is a member of the CMAF foundation and a long-time friend/colleague of Cindy Miles. Dr. Glumac and Cindy worked together on the APTA Pediatrics Board of Directors, for many years where they collaborated to meet the needs of their members in all areas. They would listen to the families’ needs and concerns and then develop treatment plans to support those needs in their family environment. On APTA, Cindy shined with her professionalism as a person and as a PT in the areas of leadership, teaching, mentorship, advocacy, lifelong education and love of family, clients and friends. She is still inspiring many future generations of PT’s including with her creation of the Annual Physical Therapy Checkup for Children. Cindy and Dr. Glumac also “birthed” their Annual Conference, originally called SOPAC. This Conference was an idea Cindy firmly believed in even through the financial doubters. Cindy led this Conference Committee to great success, running in-person and virtual, and now remains as a wonderful legacy to Cindy.
Working with Cindy led to both Dr. Glumac and Cindy to be involved in navigating families through extremely tough journeys with therapy and rehabilitation with patients. Cindy always remembered to celebrate each small step of developmental progress. She made it known that “each child is on their own timetable for the journey of life”, says Dr. Glumac. “There is nothing as thrilling as sharing a child’s first steps with their family.”
Dr. Glumac’s contribution to CMAF
Today, Dr. Glumac participates in the Cindy Miles Adaptive Fund (CMAF), where she assists in raising funds for the inclusive playground. This is another dream of Cindys that her family and friends are trying to achieve.
“If the world were full of Cindy’s, it would be an amazing place!” Dr. Glumac.
